Ach, why did high school suddenly turn sour?

High school was always like that for me. People are too busy finding their niche and trying to climb to the top of the social pecking order to show compion. While this seems to be about you, it probably isn't all that personal- you didn't do anything wrong, you just happen to be the target of the week. If they are picking on you because of your marks in school, it is actually a twisted sort of compliment: it means that you are special enough that someone is jealous of you. As for the friends, think of it this way: you are finding out who your real friends are. Do you really want to waste your time on superficial relationships? One loyal friend is worth more than all of the other people in your high school combined, and you appear to be lucky enough to have more than one. Enjoy the people who care about you, and just remember to keep everything in perspective. You are in a far better place than any of the jerks who are being cruel to you, because you have brains, and you've seen through the enormous mound of bulls*** that is high school.
