Help me out in pokemon crystal?

i play pokemon crystal in my visualboy advance emulator . i think i hve got 4 badges . but when i reach mahogony town, and help lance to get into team rockets hideout, the game freezes. it happens when two team rockets members take me 2 on 1 and lance had to help me .please help!
