Can you get a restraining order out on someone without them knowing in english law?

My partner has been quite abusive for the last two years, he recently bit my face till it drew a lot of blood and practically bit a chunk partially off my face, he keeps bothering me but i want nothing to do with him i've told him its over but he continues to be outside my work place when i finish work outside my college when i finish college but i fear that going to the police will make it worse for me, would a injunction or restraining order be available to me? and how would i go about getting one?
